A nonprofit martial arts program in Taekwondo, Hapkido and Kumdo

Supreme Grandmaster D.K. Shin - Grandmaster Shin has spent over fifty years studying martial arts. He is one of the very few who have achieved the highest rank in both Taekwondo (World Taekwondo Federation – Kukkiwon, 9th Dan) and Hapkido (World Hapkido Federation, 9th Dan).

In 1971, young Master Shin arrived in San Francisco, and continued his training and teaching in the San Francisco Bay Area. In 1996, the Hwa Rang Kwan headquarters was relocated to Redwood City, California, and is now located at its current location in San Carlos, California. Hwa Rang Kwan now has over fifty Hwa Rang Kwan branch dojangs in the world.

As a combat and self-defense instructor, Grandmaster Shin was responsible for training the renowned Korean Tiger Division, the Green Beret, the Jungle Ranger School in Vietnam, and has trained the United States Military for tens years. Grandmaster Shin is also an instructor for Stanford University and a professor of both Seoul Sports University and United Arts College.

Robert J. Morey - Robert Morey began his martial arts career in 1983 by studying Aikido for 5 years under Dr. Bob Simmons in what is now called Ki Society style. Master Simmons studied under Rod Kobayashi who himself studied directly under Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of Aikido. Robert then studied Taekwondo and Hapkido under Grandmaster D.K.Shin in San Francisco from 1992 to 1997 where he also taught at the dojang. After moving to Napa, he studied Taekwondo under Master Terry Brule from 2001 to 2005 where he was California state champion in his AAU division in both forms and sparring in 2002, 2003, and 2004. He is currently continuing his training in Taekwondo, Hapkido, and Kumdo under Grandmaster Shin at the head dojang in San Carlos, California, where he achieved his 5th Dan. In addition to martial arts, he is a winemaker, consultant, author, art and antique collector, and is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, English, and French. His two daughters are currently studying at UC Davis and Sonoma State.

Dr. Martin L. W. Hall - Martin Hall began studying taking Tae Kwon Do in 2008 under Master Terry Brule. He has been with Hwa Ran Kwan Napa since 2011. He received his 1st Dan under Master Robert Morey in May 2015. He continues to study under Master Morey and Grandmaster D.K. Shin in Tae Kwon Do, Hapkido and Kumdo, and other martial arts weapons. He has three kids including a daughter who is also a Black Belt.
